Forget the Malaysia, Truly Asia tagline for that city’s tourism promos, it’s more like the Middle East over there sometimes, what with all the conservative Muslim groups around. Avril Lavigne’s concert, to which promoters had already sold tickets to, has been cancelled, coz of protests by the youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, a fundamentalist opposition group. A party official told the Associated Press that that Lavigne’s show was “considered too hawt for us” and would promote the wrong values just before their independence day. Hell yep, Avril Lavigne’s hot! Even though she’s around 24, she still looks like a hawt teenager, and I bet she acts like one too. This isn’t the first time that hawt, hawt artists have avoided Malaysia because of their stringent cultural requirements for concerts, with Christina Aguilera and Beyonce Knowles skipping the town on their Asian tours, while The Pussycat Dolls got fined after they had a concert there, for flouting “decency regulations”. C’mon, if they wanted decency, why let The Pussycat Dolls concert push through in the first place?
